This morning, we will gather around the Table and celebrate the work God has done for us in Christ. Pastor Jim Renke will preach from Hebrews 9:23-28, where we will be shown what we can be certain of in the face of uncertainty. Some things are sure and knowing these will give us a confidence to live with and for Christ each day.

No first hour for the month of August!
Ordination. This morning, Pastor Jim will officially receive his ordination from the Evangelical Free Church of America. Pastor Jim was ordained under the North American Baptist Conference in 1988. In coming to Village Church, he was asked to go through the process of being credentialed with the EFCA. Ordination is a process whereby his call and preparation for ministry within the EFCA is tested and affirmed. By virtue of his ordination, he is placing himself under the guidance and authority of this denomination. Our prayer is that this is another step of confirming God’s call and an opportunity to pray over our partnership in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Ladies ... We hope you are able to join this week’s Night of Encouragement, Wednesday, 8/6, 7-8:00 pm at Karen Flatebo’s home in Buffalo Grove. It’s a great opportunity to invite a friend or neighbor and be encouraged!

Virtual Prayer Gathering: This Tuesday night, 8/5, 7 pm, we’ll be gathering on Zoom for our prayer meeting. Come join us for a meaningful time of prayer—all from the comfort of your own living room. SUMMER TALKS. Pastor Jim will be hosting, Bible, Sermon, or Spiritual Conversations, on Wednesdays from 6:30 pm to 8 pm. Feel free to bring along your dinner and your questions! Let’s take this time to open up conversations on what God is doing in our lives, or in our understanding of Him and His Word.
Love INC: On Saturday, 8/9, we have an opportunity to help those in need with furniture deliveries and pickups. We meet at Love INC at 8am-noon to load the trucks. Those who are able, please contact Ernie Brandt at coachb1925@aol.com or 224-217-1966. The address is 339 Lakewood Ave. in Waukegan.
VCL Blood Drive—Our next Red Cross blood drive is Tuesday, September 9. Please give if you are able. Appointments are scheduled every 15 minutes from 1:00—6:00p.m. Sign up at redcross.org. Volunteers needed to host people as they come to donate. Please call or email Ed Manzo or the church office to help out.
