The Call of Faith

This morning, we'll gather together to celebrate the Lord's invitation to trust and worship Him. Pastor Jim Renke will begin a series through "The Call of Faith" from Hebrews 11:1-7. Faith carries with it unique understandings and a powerful call. Are you ready to exercise faith? Let God direct and empower  your faith and the rewards will be forever.


General Announcements

 First Hour will be starting again on September 7 at 9 am in the Great Room.  In September Pastor Jim will lead us in a discussion on PRAYER.

 

 

SUMMER TALKS.  Pastor Jim will be hosting, our last conversation of the summer this Wednesday from 6:30 pm to 8 pm.  Feel free to bring along your dinner and your questions!  Let’s take this time to open up conversations on what God is doing in our lives, or in our understanding of Him and His Word

 VCL Blood Drive—Our next Red Cross blood drive is Tuesday, September 9. Please give if you are able. Appointments are scheduled every 15 minutes from 1:00—6:00p.m.  Sign up at redcross.org. Volunteers needed to host people as they come to donate.  Please call or email Ed Manzo or the church office to help out.

Completing the Call Campaign update.  We thank God and you, that we’ve received $137,000 of pledged gifts. When you give your campaign pledges, you may put them in the offering plate, but be sure to mark them “Campaign Pledge.” This will assure us that the gift will go into the designated account.  Thank you.

 Shirley Rugen memorial:  VCL will be hosting a memorial service for Jennie Stanonik’s mom on Friday, August 29 at 11 am.  A time of fellowship is planned in the Great Room after the service.

 

Fall Ministries

Fall kickoff salad lunch.  We will be having a salad lunch right after the service on September 14th in the Great Room.  Sign up starting today in the foyer!

 

Thursday Women’s Bible Study:  All women of VCL and friends are welcome to our weekly Bible Study.  This semester we’ll be studying the theme of Jesus in the Old Testament using the book The Christ Key: Unlocking the Centrality of Christ in the Old Testament by Chad Bird.  We’re excited about this study as we learn how consistent Scripture is in its revelation of Jesus as Messiah.  Books are  available for $20.  We begin Thursday, September 18, 930—11 am.   Babysitting is provided.  Questions: Carol Marshall carolsings3@comcast.net

 

  And Growth Group kickoff!  We’re inviting all growth group leaders, growth group members and anyone else interested in growth groups to a meeting with dessert(!) on Sunday evening, September 21st at 6 p.m. here at church in the Great Room.
